At the end of every month, The Dispatch rounds up all the corrections or clarifications we issued that month and publishes them. You can read about our thinking behind this practice here, but the short version is this: We’re proud of our editorial standards, we know we won’t be perfect, and when we fall short, we want to own it—clearly and transparently.

Below are the corrections and clarifications we made in January. As always, our mistakes are rarely the fault of any one person, but the responsibility for what we publish rests with me. If you see something we missed, please email us at corrections@thedispatch.com.

  • On January 5, we updated an article about the Trump administration’s action in Venezuela to correct the name of the U.S. military operation that captured Manuel Noriega and when it took place.
  • On January 7, we updated an article about Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz to correct the years that Tim Pawlenty was governor of the state.
  • On January 8, we updated an article about changes to the childhood vaccine schedule to correct the spelling of the name of epidemiologist Martin Kulldorff.
  • On January 8, we updated an edition of The Morning Dispatch to correct the size of Paramount’s revised acquisition offer for Warner Bros.
  • On January 12, we updated an edition of The Morning Dispatch to adhere to The Dispatch’s guidelines on the spelling of Turkey and to correct the attribution of a remark made to ICE officers in Minneapolis.
  • On January 13, we updated an edition of The Morning Dispatch to reflect that Greenland is Danish territory, not Dutch territory.
  • On January 23, we updated an edition of The Morning Dispatch to correct the name of the agency that Travis Hill leads.
  • On January 26, we updated an article about Tucker Carlson to include additional context from a Fox News spokesperson, correct the title of Tim Miller’s book, and clarify a reference to the author’s biography of Dick Cheney.
  • On January 27, we updated an edition of Boiling Frogs to clarify that an image linked to in the newsletter appears to have been edited and cleaned up using AI technology.
  • On January 31, we updated an article about a woman in Sea Island, Georgia, to correct the spelling of Scott Steilen’s name.

Declan Garvey is the executive editor of The Dispatch and is based in Washington, D.C. Prior to joining the company in 2019, he worked in public affairs at Hamilton Place Strategies and market research at Echelon Insights.
