At the end of every month, The Dispatch rounds up all the corrections or clarifications we issued that month and publishes them. You can read about our thinking behind this practice here, but the short version is this: We’re proud of our editorial standards, we know we won’t be perfect, and when we fall short, we want to own it—clearly and transparently.
Below are the corrections and clarifications we made in December. As always, our mistakes are rarely the fault of any one person, but the responsibility for what we publish rests with me. If you see something we missed, please email us at corrections@thedispatch.com.
- On December 1, we updated an edition of The Morning Dispatch to reflect that Kalshi was accused of offering “unlawful sports gambling” in a class-action lawsuit.
- On December 2, we updated an article about the Intercollegiate Studies Institute to correct the year that Johnny Burtka was named president of the organization.
- On December 6, we updated an edition of The G-File to correct the name of the bugle call that members of the military often wake up to during training.
- On December 8, we updated an edition of The Morning Dispatch to correct the name of the beauty pageant owned by Raúl Rocha Cantú.
- On December 10, we updated an article about House Speaker Mike Johnson to correct the spelling of Zohran Mamdani.
- On December 11, we updated an article about the 2026 midterm elections to note that Barack Obama was the 44th president of the United States.
- On December 16, we updated a Monday Essay about a writer’s long-lost brother to correct the spelling of Judith Jarvis Thomson’s name.
- On December 16, we updated an article about the Trump administration’s approach to antitrust policy to correct the total value of Netflix’s bid for Warner Bros. Discovery.
- On December 19, we updated an article about the Affordable Care Act and abortion policy to clarify Sen. Josh Hawley’s preferred approach to stopping taxpayer-funded abortion.
- On December 21, we updated an edition of The Morning Dispatch to adhere to The Dispatch’s internal style guide regarding gender medicine.
- On December 30, we updated an edition of The Morning Dispatch to reflect that the band Kingfishr is from Ireland, not Northern Ireland.
