Growing Up With Terre Haute, Indiana

Alt-rock and evolution just east of Illinois.

It’s a crossroads. It’s a bellwether. It’s sometimes a punch line. And it’s my hometown. Welcome to Terre Haute, Indiana.

Perched along the Wabash River that runs through most of the state, Terre Haute sits at the intersection of U.S. Highways 40 and 41, with I-70 thrown in for good measure. And if you like watching trains, you’ll rarely find a place with as many crossings, a whopping 340-plus in Vigo County.
