When Americans recall Jimmy Carter’s legacy, we often think of his piety, illustrated by his years of teaching Sunday school at his Baptist church and his tireless labor for nonpartisan charities such as Habitat for Humanity. Carter, who died Sunday—three months after his 100th birthday—was eager to talk about his faith and about his personal “born again” experience.
