GOP Lawmakers Wage Tug-of-War Over AI Regulation

Congressional Republicans are divided on restricting states from enacting AI-related legislation.

After the House of Representatives passed its version of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act in May, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia was surprised to learn that it included a provision to ban state governments from regulating artificial intelligence systems.

“I am adamantly OPPOSED to this and it is a violation of state rights and I would have voted NO if I had known this was in there,” she tweeted last month.
